I figure I'd show you all my phone and what I did with it, because I haven't posted the picture yet! Isn't it neat? I finally got to use my ice-skating Starscream sticker!! <3
Alrighty so, August! It hasn't been the most eventful month ever, with waiting for FAFSA stuff to come in we've pretty much been sitting around continuing to plan this D&D campaign and playing the Sims 3.
After James' hard drive was wiped, we lost pretty much everything we had on the Sims. It's nothing compared to the amount of work he lost, and I still feel awful that it had to happen to his computer, but he's got all of his games and websites back, and we've finally re-installed the Sims 3. We lost our entire Clint and Eleanor dynasty and I lost my adorable Cappy and Sunny household, but we've made new families now. James has a family going with a firefighter and a detective, and I made a totally kickass household with a pink-haired girl who bartends and plays guitar, a lavender-haired lolita who is the perfect cook, and her stereotypical "bishie" blue-haired boyfriend who plays the piano. They're all really funny, and we have lots of new custom content to play around with. <3
Then yesterday and this morning, we watched Paranormal Activity and it's sequel. I've heard really mixed reviews about them from some of my friends, and I honestly can't say that I can take a side. It wasn't a bad movie, the second was better than the first, both were just so... un-cinematic. I know that it was supposed to add to the realism, but they strung us along for so long, talking about how the demon used to stand over her bed at night as a child and scare the shit out of them, but then... nothing happened. You never saw it stand over her. And you KNEW nothing was going to happen. At night they would go to sleep and it would speed up time, you'd see the door move or the footprints appear, and that was it. I felt like they were setting us up for disappointment. And an hour and twenty minutes of buildup for one singular sweet ass scene where James and I both jumped wasn't worth it to me. The second one at least had more action, and I liked that more. Maybe I'm just too used to Transformers, all of my expectations for movies have become "when are they gonna start beating the shit out of eachother?". James and I were arguing about the super cute Mazda that the girl in the first movie had, and how it didn't have enough screentime, and how the pool cleaner in the second movie was the best character ever. The scene where they watched it climb out of the pool was the most hilarious shit I have ever seen.
And for some reason, for the past week I've been trying to finish a oneshot I started in early 2009, before ROTF came out. My sister and I were talking about birthday presents for her (wtf our birthdays are in December) and at the time she was playing one of her Resident Evil games. I don't remember why she asked for this pairing in particular, because it's so cracky and weird, but she told me to write her a Billy/Leon fic. Like Leon S. Kennedy and Billy Coen. I think it was actually because she dislikes both characters? Or something like that, some weird reason. Anyway, I never finished it, and forgot about it, and something she did the other day reminded me of the unfinished draft I have, and I picked it up and decided to finish it. Usually, stuff I started in 2009 makes me embarrassed that I wrote that badly in the past, but I re-read it and I'm surprised with how much I like it. Maybe I can give it to her this year for her birthday? xO
Okay, so last week (or was it the week before?) my dad and stepmother decided to take a vacation in San Clemente, and because they have a whole bunch of cats, Bri, James, and I were petsitters. It was hilarious to say the least. Their condo is really cute, but there is literally ZERO phone service there. People got angry at me because they'd call six times and I would never get a single call, but get one two minutes later. Calls would drop in less than a minute. It was terrible, but bearable because the Internet worked. We pretty much all chilled together putting our D&D characters on paper. James and I have decided not to play fighter and bard. The characters are linked too closely and built for eachother, splitting them up would be terrible so when James decided to make an artificer, I just put my fighter away for later use with his bard and now I'm playing a warforged battlemind. James' artificer is so moe. I just want to draw the two of them all day <3 Bri is playing something else too now, she had the tiefling idea but changed to a shifter I think. Not positive, though.
Anyway, we're at my dad's house catsitting. They have four indoor cats, three of which I've known since he first started dating Laurie when I was a kid, and one new one, a kitten named Shakra. Then they have two more outdoor cats that don't really belong to them, but come to their house for food. Originally, the night after we got to the house, the three of us were going to go hiking with Kaela and Quinn, so I brought a bunch of Transformers I wanted to take pictures of in the pretty scenery (Drift, Perce, Meg, Screamer, TFA Blurr, Shocky, I don't even remember who else) along in a backpack. Well, I didn't go to sleep until six AM, so I really didn't have the energy to hike, and I now had this bag full of Transformers with me. I decided, well, what the hell. I can just sit Shockwave on the table with me and take a picture of him looking cute while we work on D&D. And?
Shakra, their kitten, was FUCKING IN LOVE WITH HIM.
Seriously this is like, me in cat form. He was just looking it him, staring endlessly until I finally put Shocky on the chair with him, and before I could even get any pictures of the two of them looking cute sitting together, he just. Hugged him. And held him close. And fell asleep with Shockwave in the chair. It was probably the weirdest and most adorable thing I've ever seen.
When we got back to my house, it was like I hadn't been there in forever. I spent a while at James' house, then almost a week at my dad's, then back to James'. Jango's water in his tank had gone down almost half an inch and I was so glad to see him <3 He's the best fishie ever, he's been very busy making a bubble nest over the past week. I feel bad that I can't buy him a girlfriend so he can have little baby Jangii (don't judge my plurals) but I really wouldn't have a place to put his wife or any others. It doesn't matter though, someday Jango, someday I'll have the funds to have a whole bunch of fighting fish, and I promise some of them will be descendants of you! And I promise, no king bettas. They're sort of hideous.
I think that's really all I've done this month that's noteworthy. At work we've been continuing on NDA spots but I haven't been there for the new shoots. ;A; Then I've just been working on this Resident Evil thing, playing Sims, and waiting for my FAFSA email so that I can finalize all of my classes.
Oh, that's right! We're also moving. Again. I have mixed feelings of excitement and sadness. We never stay in a house for more than two years, usually it ends up being less than one year that we stay in the same place. I like moving, but it has gotten old, since we've been switching houses annually since I was like eleven. But, we'll be close by college, and there are lot of places around there to eat and have fun. We'll be right next to the Cinedome, as well! Alas, we are moving from a house to an apartment, but in all actuality, the apartment is bigger. This house is very, very tiny, and I'll be glad to have my own bedroom again. What color will the walls be after I paint them? Lavender? Light yellow? Maybe I'll just paint Sugary Carnival ponies on it. <3
