everything that happened.

DESTRON HALLOWEEN

Alright. Here is where I take my time and explain everything that's gone down in the past few days. :D

Last Thursday my dad and I went to take video footage and still shots for an airplane company. We got to ride on the type of helicopter that his boss is buying (called an R-44) with no doors on the left side so we could take pictures and film easier. I got to sit right in front next to our pilot (I was wering five layers of clothes :D It's freezing up there) and peer out while using one of my dad's cameras. Sometimes we'd make a sharp left turn and I would literally be perpendicular to the ground but 3500 feet up in the air! It was so amazing. Everyone kept telling me that I would throw up, but I think that I love flying too much to ever barf up there. It's just so amazing knowing that we- as humans that are built to walk and exist on the ground, can fly so high in the air with machines that we ourselves created. It's so beautiful getting to fly. I hope someday I'll be able to get my piloting liscence. Hopefully I'll get some of the photos I took and post them on here. ☆

Later that night was the halloween dance at school. I don't think I've ever been to a dance at that school where I wasn't taking pictures for one reason or another, so it was fun to just roam around and hang out with James while he worked at the candy booth. I dressed as a fiary, sort of, by just putting fiary wings and carrying a wand with my regular clothes. =w= I made Jake play shit music while he was DJing and everyone read a lame conversation on facebook about girlfriends. I went home and pretty much passed out. That day wore me out.

Then I got to vote for the first time ever on Friday. My mom took me and this really nice old woman named Lillian to a golf course to do early voting and we ate at a pretty little resteraunt later. They took photos on a disposable camera but I didn't bring any cameras with me, so none from me. :c

OH. I went to Target yesterday and bought the Friendship is Magic pony giftpack!! 8D Pinkie is the most adorable thing I have ever seen, and I now have an oddly pink Princess Celestia and a hatless Applejack sitting on James' nightstand. I'm going to take some pictures tomorrow and post them on here as well. I hope Hasbro releases another set with Fluttershy, Dash, and Rarity, so I can line them all up on my desk and tkae pictures with Rarity and my G1 Majesty. :D

Also, in not good news, my Tita had a stroke yesterday. Everyone showed up at the hospital at around midnight to find out that it was what they call a 'warning stroke', nothing extremely severe but a dangerous sign. She hasn't been taking her high blood pressure medicine apparently, which is what caused it. My whole family ended up waiting in ICU, oddly enough the mood lightened a lot after we heard the news that she was likely going to be alright, and it ended up being like a family reunion. The doctors told us that her brain will likely swell for the next two days before she beings recovery.

All in all, the week has been pretty eventful, as today is also Halloween. Luckilly I don't have to worry about going out with 'friends' and James and I are having a scary movie marathon tonight. 8D

well.

I'm starting to think that the people I thought were my friends aren't really, or were just pretending to be. James and I plan something, and either everybody says "I don't have money" or "we're busy", and the people who were supposed to show up and said they were going to be there bail on us. Then when plans actually go through, James and I are never invited. We only hear about it after it's over or when people come to pick my sister up from the house. It's sort of dissapointing. I get excited to hang out with people I haven't seen in a long time or barely get to see during the week, and I guess it turns out that they don't want to see me at all.

Photobucket

Anyway, I'm working on this long-ass fandom quiz thing. Tomorrow I'll explain in detail the helicopter ride, the school dance, and going to vote. For now I'm just too fed up with people in general to write ultra-long posts. I'm also gonna do a lolita inspiration pictures post sometime when I get around to finishing those fandom questions without my internet freezing up.

wetlands.

So I'm going through the awful pictures I took and picking out which ones to put up here. Nothing too horrible. c:

We went to the wetlands park today after getting breakfast at Subway. I had to wear pants out for the first time in forever~. It was freezing when we first got there but as usual, the weathr changed in less than half an hour and it was hot again. We found a car down inside of a river, and we went to the big waterfall bridge that I haven't been to since I was like, around ten years old. James and I were at the pond and my mom took a picture of us where it looks like one of those shots people take at a wedding in front of a pond. =w= A ladybug flew into James' hair and this little grasshopper guy flew onto my shoulder, too. We saw tracks that looked like beavers, but according to myself, my dad, and my sister, there is no such thing as a desert beaver.

Yesterday my dad and I shot three really nice girls for a magazine cover in the club. All three of them were around my age, so it was sort of cool to finally chat with some other girls that had just graduated or were just about to. As I was walking into the studio the heel of my boot broke off, so for a while I was wobbling around on one high-heeled boot before I just took the other off. We might get them fixed later.

In other news, next week I get to shoot airplanes (with a camera) while hanging out the side of a helicopter, making it look like they're in a dogfight. :D Airplanes + taking pictures + flying = three of my favorite things ever, fuck yeah! It's going to be so fun. I've never ridden in a helicopter before so I hope I don't throw up everywhere. When I flew the little single-engine I was fine and dandy but helicopters somehow seem jerkier. Ah well. I probably won't eat breakfast in an attempt to prevent barfing either way but it'll still be loads of fun. 8D

This was in the car on teh way to Fremont Street, I had the derpist lamest fucking face on in this picture and my sister looks like, adorable. My teeth are so yellow eeeew.

And then in this picture I look a little better, no idea what I'm doing with my hand, but my sister's face just has "I AM SO FUCKING STONED" written all over it. And she wasn't even stoned.

purple.

I don't really care who agrees or disagrees with me but I have to get this off my chest.

This whole "wear purple" day is just stupid. It goes something like "wear purple on October 20th in honor of the recent teen suicides related to bullying a homosexuality, we want to bring awareness to and stop homophobia and bullying". The whole thing is just... What?

Tons of people kill themselves every day. Suddenly a few gay kids kill themselves and it's a giant huge deal? Why don't we show every suicide case that happenes in the USA every day on the national news and wear a specific color every day? Why aren't we wearing red for women who killed themselves, orange for men who killed themselves, yellow for people under the age of 13 that killed themselves, and so on? It's like everyone else in the world who was bullied to death for being overweight, underweight, Muslim, Jewish, blonde, brunette, Asian, Australian, anything- it's like they don't matter at all unless they were gay.

I also didn't know about this until today, so I'm wondering how many people actually DID wear purple yesterday. Hm. It just seems pointless to me.

So I'm finally getting my phone replaced. After months of not being able to call people without a minute long delay, random turning off and on, the backlight of the screen refusing to shut off and running my battery down so that it only lasts a few hours off the charger now, and the random reversions back to the "store" settings of the phone, I'm replacing this peice of crap. It looked so useful, cute, and compact when it got it, but now I'm getting a refurbished Samsung Solstice for extremely cheap. Anyhting is better than this phone, and plus, the Solstice looks nice! I like how it's a full touch screen except for like three buttons, and when I looked at it in the store, the first thing I noticed was that little shortcut bar on the left. It looks so useful! I hope I can change the facebook and myspace and yahoo icons into stuff that I actually use, but even if I can't, it will never be as bad as the LG Neon I have. Never buying an LG phone again, even if it has my initials right on the front. ._.

I'll also post the short baton / quiz I did today on here, just 'cause. c:
Photobucket
1. Best Lolita fashion advice you've ever received? A very simple thing called "a mother who is an artist". Maybe it's not that simple. My mom has ALWAYS taught me about color and the way certain colors do and don't go together (lol looking at a color wheel when I was a little baby). If it weren't for her I would not know how to color-coordinate at all!

2. Style Icons? I dunno, I know my Animal Crossing character has been a sweet lolita LONG before I ever decided to get back into lolita, so it sorta inspires me when I take my daily escape to Starfall to be her. :D Also, totally not real people, but my icons for fairykei are Jem and Posey, and real people who are lolita icons are your typical Amo, Unu, Misako, and so on.

3. Describe your personal style. Sweet lolita sometimes leaning into OTT sweet with a heavy fairy-kei and '80s influence. Not afraid to wear legwarmers with my brand and brand with my MLP tees. I never stray from a carnival and circus theme becuase I love the underlying image and I have an obsession with all things carousel-horse. (Which is why maybe the only thing I've seriously written is three parts long and each is respectively titled "Circus", "Carousel", and "Carnival".)

4. Favorite designers/brands? Angelic Pretty. Always. Also, LEIF, for Aster Cafe. I want it in blue. c:

5. Most cherished items? The one I always cheris and try to work into every outfit is the cupcake pony necklace I got at ALA a few years ago with my sister and Sadey. It's my reminder of my friends and how much fun I had.

6. Most used item? Light pink shoes I got super cheap from Bodyline! Ha! I use them when I wear all sorts of stuff and not just lolita, they're probably the most versatile shoes I own.

7. I feel best wearing? Anything with horses and ponies on it. Sugary Carnival, my Bodyline carousel skirt, and hopefully, someday I'll get my hands of Meta's Twinkle Journey skirt in dark blue. The pegasi on it are just absoutely beautiful.

8. The first thing I look for in another Lolita's outfit... Is the general shape and shilouette. A-line skirt? Marshmallow shape? High-waisted? I just like examining how other people pair acessories and other items of clothes like boleros and cardigans with their outfit. Then straight after that I look and see if all of the colors co-ordinate well.

9. Lolita Fashion rule you never break? Petticoat (fucking always), always wearing a blouse under a JSK, always examining my shoe choice and color so I don't look like a 'tard with shoes (like a lot of people do when they wear Starry Night Theater, I never plan on buying that print) and always have my makeup done. If I don't have time for makeup, can't access a petti, or don't have a blouse, I'm not gonna wear lolita that day.

10. Never caught wearing? Everything I mentioned above about the blouse-less JSK, also open-toed shoes with socks / stockings, super goth stuff (it looks so sad ;^;) and, as much as I love my winter hats, I'd never wear them with a serious coord.

11. Dress to impress who? This is a hard question. I'm not really doing it to "impress", but I know it does impress everyone aside from my family and close friends. I dress the way I love to dress and I'm happy if people notice it, becuase I put a lot of effort into looking beautiful when I wear lolita, as outlandish as it may seem. It's an attention grabbing fashion- I'd much rather spend hours getting into my lolita and get noticed for it than spend 30 seconds picking random stuff out of my drawers and feel like I look like crap personally.

12. Your next "must have" purchase? After my Christmas stuff, I'm probably going to save up to buy Milky Planet in sax or lavender. :3 The must-have of the season, I'd say.

13. Favorite type of head accessory? Katyusha. Looks good generally all the time. I love stiff bonnets too, though.

14. Favorite cut of clothing (shirring, high waist, princess seams etc)? I hate high waisted everything, it makes you look preggo no matter how stick thin you are. I've seen tons of beautiful lolitas in ghih waist JSKs and it just looks overall bad. I'm all for low-waisted marshmallow poof.

15. Current obsession? Tweek from South Park. Not loli at all buy hey. :D

16. Best Lolita fashion advice you can give to anyone: Never go out without a petti, do your makeup and hair, don't buy anything that you don't like personally just because it "looks loli", that's the quickest way to become unhappy in the fashion!

christmas~~!

Photobucket

Everyone's birthdays around me are coming up. James and Bri share a birthday, shortly before mine, then after is my grandmother's. Even before all of those is my mom, who is at the beginning of November, two days after my one-year anniversary with James. Then, of course, is Christmas! I'm going to need so much money this season for gifts. For my mom, my sister and I have planned on pooling our money and buying her an e-reader called the "Nook", which just makes me think of Animal Crossing.

For the anniversary shortly after, I already painted James a mug with a little picture of us on it, but he guessed what it was so I just gave it to him like a month early. =w= Now I'm going to surpise him by paining the photo frame we got from EKA last year when we won the cutest couple award. For Christmas I might get him the Star Wars Y-Wing lego set he's been wanting since before we were dating, and maybe Civilization 5 if I have enough cash.

Bri is the one I'm stumped on at the current moment. She dresses like a hippie now and plays Team Fortress 2 all the time... And I know nothing about hippies and TF2. :/ I already know what my mom is getting her and I wish I had thought of that first, but now I might get her an accessory for it, and perhaps some mori-able clothes, since I know she likes Mori girl and Dolly-Kei. c:

For mom, we have the e-reader planned for her birthday, but she already got her "dream quilt" so there's really nothing else I can think of off the top of my head for her. Maybe we could get some photo frames and put the pictures of the family that we've got in them? I dunno yet.
Dad is the other one that I'm totally confused on. It's always always hard to buy him gifts because it seems like he has everything already. Hopefully while I'm working with him he'll tell me something that he wants aside from a toy helicopter, or something old of his that needs to be replaced. When he was teaching me about some of the lights he works with I looked at the date and they were from like '97.

My mom will pry something to get from my Aunt and grandmother, because she's always on the phone with our aunt and well, our grandmother wants the wole world for Christmas. Then I have to find something for James' dad and his grandmother (I'm thinking something wolf / unicorn for his grandmother and something for his dad's Nikon) and also for my friends. Kaela I know you read this stuff and heh heh I already know what I'm getting you but I won't post it here. :D
I hope this Christmas I can get my first BtSSB brand item. :3 I was thinking Creamy Soda Pop but it's looking expensive at the moment (goddamn exchange rate, so high!) so right now I'm happy with AP's Jewelry Jelly in mint and hopefully also Miracle Candy in sax. I'm also getting quite a bit of a haul before the holidays so I have some things to wear- Wonder Cookie in white and Toy Parade in pink, possibly Memorial Cake in white, two pairs of tea-party shoes, one with heels and one without, a new white blouse, a new petti, and some socks. Hopefully that can get here before November so I can do another, much better coords post.

I'm already ranting about Christmas and Halloween hasn't even come up yet. I don't have a costume yet, either! I was thinking about going as Pinkie Pie or Nightmare Moon from MLP's Friendship is Magic, but I don't htink I have the time to make either of those costumes, and how the hell would I do Nightmare Moon's hair? So I guess I'm either going to cater to James' Star Wars obsession and go as Slave Leia (lul) or find somethin else at the ostume store for cheap. :( I hate those slutty pre-made "sexy" costumes they sell there, though, which is why I'm reluctant to go as Leia (I love her but I mean, I don't have the right hair or the right boobs) so I might just pick something cute from the children section and buy a wig and call it a day. We're probably going to Fremont Street again for Halloween if we can organize it with a bunch of friends. 8D

salted pork.

Photobucket

Over the past few days we've rewatched the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. I totally forgot that LOTR was the origin of most of the inside jokes my sister and I have (salted pork, rivendell house, butt germs, and so on) aside from the 1986 Transformers movie. "TELL HIM JOKES."

Ocasionally my mom would come out to watch parts and comment on how pretty Liv Tyler is but sometimes she and James would add in more hilarious commentary that wasn't already an inside joke. ("Are you going to leave me, Pippin?" "NO I'M GONNA FUCK YOU") Everyone just burst out laughing as soon as "they're taking the hobbits to Isengard" was spoken, and whenever Aragorn went into RANGERRRR MOOODE.

On Thursday night we went to Fremont Street. James stayed home and played Oblivion since it was technically an all-girls event for the night. I took pictures of Darth Vader (who kept gesuring to me to take one of his lightsabers and have someone else take the picture and always gave people a thumbs-up) and Superman being carried by two Spidermans. Spidermen? I dunno, but there were tons of street preformers there looking for tips. I got my name written on a grain of rice and we ate at a resteraunt called "Firefly". The food was delicious, I just got a plate of fried calamari and chowed on it.

Yesterday I went to work with my dad again and we shot commercial footage for a vitamin and health food store next to the newest LVAC building. The owner of the store was really nice as well as the model in the commercial, and my dad showed me how to ready the camera and adjust the brightness and tone, and how to do the typical zoom and pan of the store asiles that you see in most commercials. Then we went to Fry's and looked around and random stuff. It was loads of fun, I love working with my dad. :D

Then today James and I went to the opening of the bridge next to Hoover Dam with his family. Technically I was in Arizona for half of the day before we crossed back onto the Nevada side. We got little pins and trinkets they were handing out and stood in line forever for a bus back to the parking lot. All of the photos from these days are on the roll in my Yashica so as soon as I go in and get my like 6 rolls developed I should be able to post pictures. :3

another layout change~.

Photobucket

Well, I changed my layout again so that (FINALLY) my pictures won't have a border. I did this mostly so I could use all of these little gifs and borders I've been saving up for quite some time.Photobucket

I really have nothing else to post about except for the fact that I registered to vote the other day and that I'm going out to shoot pictures of a resteraunt tomorrow.Photobucket I have a lot of film to develop still and I sort of want to watch the Reid / Angle debate. I have a lot of stuff to draw though, a whole list of things that I want to paint since my tablet is gone and I'm going back to watercolors now.Photobucket

magnet fireplaces~

So, I'm working with my dad now. He's essentially teaching me the how-to's when it comes to his job, editing footage and filming, doing lighting and setups, and taking pictures of people in what used to be a martial arts room that's been converted to a giant studio. I prettty much just chill with him at work (and his co-workers and boss are all funny and really nice :D) and do random stuff aside from the shooting. It's been really fun for the past week, I really like what he does.

I've had these roll of film sitting in my bag forever, and I'm afraid they'll somehow just spill out and my 120 rolls will magically come undone and just... die. I need to get them developed so that I can stop being paranoid about them.

Today half of the school ditched and went to Renn Fair. We had a reservation as a class and all pretty much got in for free. It was really fun just wandering around the lake and looking at all the people dressed up and the tents, and looking at the weird shops and stuff. James bought me this really lovely locket and a ring with a purple crystal in it. We got cinnamon roasted almonds and I got a snowcone! I've wanted a snowcone for more than a year now, and I got in banana + pina colada flavors. It was so delicious. We saw this really good Jack Sparrow cosplayer (no, he seriously walked, talked, and looked exactly like Depp in the movie, a lot of people were sort of crowding around asking 'is that really him?') and I watched this little three-year-old boy wearing a blue jacket run up to him and stand behind him before yelling "Jack!!" really enthusiastically. The Jack Sparrow turned around and raised his eyebrow and then waved back in a very in-character moment, but when he turned back around and began walking away I could see a huge grin on his face. It was awesome. When we got home both of us just passed out asleep woke up at seven PM with sore legs form walking around the entire lake so many times. James has a huge sunburn on his chest as well, in the shape of a heart. He outlined it in a black marker. <:

I need to post a photo of the outfit I wore to the fair today. It was super Spank!, I was actually pretty proud of the way it turned out because I felt genuinely '80s, except both of the cameras I took the the fair were from the '60s. Oh well. I'll get my 35mm developed and post pictures. c:

WHEE~

101 POSTS. c:

I haven't even had this blog for a year yet. Well, maybe I have. If I have had it for a year, I think this is perfect timing. :D
And this was actually meant to be celebrated on the 100th post, but I sort of forgot and just stuck my doodle of my alpacaradar on there. Whoops.

4.10.10

hats.

I don't know how to burp (or rather, I just can't) and I drank a slurpee with lots of air bubbles in it. Now the air is stuck inside of me and the back of my throat is making weird noises.

3.10.10

pictures from the garage.

When we were looking through stuff in the garage to sell at the yard sale I found tons of old pictures that I figured I'd share.

Bud! My buddy. :D Whenever my family takes a trip to Kodachrome Basin in Utah, I always get to visit Bud and ride him on trail rides. Last time we were there, there were two new horses at the stable and my sister's usual horse, Manzanita, was having a foal. I rode bud with Kaela and Brina down to the Cool Cave with Cowboy Bob, and it was pretty neato. c:

First of all, I didn't take this picture, I think my mom did. It's me in this giant river of salt water right next to the ocean at this beach. I think I was like, 12-13 when this was taken? The beach was near Solvang, which is my favorite vacation spot in the world (so far) and it had a giant train track that ran on a brdiget over the camping area nearby. The river I'm standing in slowly wound up to this little pond with fish and birds in it. My sister and I somehow managed to wade up teh river to find that out. =w=

A picture of my sister and I with Dracula... For some reason this is rare. Most of the pictures of Drac that we have don't show any people. Anyway. This is at the oldest house I can remember us living in, where I grew up. The kitchen looks really dirty... And my hair, what the hell is up with that? Dracula looks fat as usual.

AHAHA. One of my dad's pictures of me. I was probably like, three or four? Hell yeah Lion King figures, I guess. This one wasn't taken on a disposable camera, it was probably one of my dad's nice old 35mm cameras.

Wow. This was taken out the window of my sister's bedroom in the second house I remember us moving to. The neighborhood was a huge circle. My sister's room had a really cool view, and I went up there sometimes when she was playing the Wolf's Rain soundtrack and the french song that I liked was on. It was so neat hearing the music float out the window up there.

Anyway I don't feel like scanning and uploading the rest. c:
